CLUB SPONSORS
On 11 April 1947 Past President Bill Youngson of Rotary Club of Wangaratta and then Presbyterian Minister of St Andrew's, Mornington, convened a Rotary interest meeting at Campbell's Cafe, Mornington between District Governor Jack Edgar, several fellow Rotarians of the Essendon and Dandenong clubs and 18 local interested business and professional people.
The formation of the Rotary Club of Mornington was agreed to be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dandenong, covering "all territory on the Mornington Peninsula south of the northern boundary of the sire of Mornington and it's continuation east of Westernport."
On 18 April 1947 the Provisional Club of Mornington met and 18 members were inducted by Rotarian Bert Finlayson.

The Charter was presented by District Governor John Edgar at a special meeting of 78 Rotarians held at the Royal Hotel, Esplanade, Mornington with Dandenong, Melbourne, Essendon Footscray and Warragul Clubs well represented..
