From the Editor

Good morning to all my fellow Mornington Rotarians and their Partners and family. Well its been some time since i was last sitting behind my desk and scribing out our Club News and happenings. During my absence there certainly has been a lot going on and with my travels interstate I managed to log-in and endeavour to keep abreast of all our busy club events. A big thanks to Ross for " filling in " whilst I was away and it highlighted one important aspect to me of our Club's interaction, that being that if you cannot be at the meetings each week that you still feel connected by reading thru the weekly Bulletin. There is certainly a lot coming up in the next few months and even though Winter is well and truly upon us the Rotary Club of Mornington is still " full steam ahead ".

Last Week - Club Social Dinner - Wok on the Bay - Mt Martha

Last Wednesday evening saw a much awaited face to face Social Dinner where a great turnout of 13 Members accompanied by their partners totalled 26 very happy and gastronomically satisfied guests at The Wok on the Bay, Chinese Restaurant, in Mt Martha. Our hosts certainly provided another sumptuous feast and from all the comments " we definitely didn't go hungry ', so much so that by the time sweets were on the menu there were a few guests that elected to forgo that part of the evening meal, but not to say they still looked very yummy ! A big thanks to John Renowden for co-ordinating another great evening of dining and fellowship.

A selection of Mornington Rotary Club Members and Partners, as well as some Club guests enjoying a great evening of food and wine at Wok on the Bay

Our Club's Next Meeting - Wed 25th May 2021 - The New Wilsons Road Community Centre

At our Club's next upcoming meeting this Wednesday 25th May 2021, will see a change from our usual Mornington Hotel venue, to take in the surrounds of the new Wilsons Road Community Centre. The upgrades to the original, and very tired looking facilities has been ongoing now for some 18 months, and with this new asset opening up only a few weeks ago it will be great to have a look around and get a feel of what this new facility has to offer to our local community organisations. We will meet at the usual time of 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start. Our evening meal will be prepared and provided by the Homeground Centre (specific menu details in this weeks Presidents Report) and Joel will be providing an update of their  projects so far. Important Note for the evening meal : With the Licensing arrangements, alcoholic beverages will be BYO of your favourite Red or White. Narelle Crossing who is the Manger of the Centre will provide us with a guided tour of the new facility/s.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

 .

This month see's a large number of our Members and partners celebrating very special day in their relationship, that being their Annivesary. We had Jenny & Brian, Neil & Jean, David & Denise, Peter & Tess, Ross & Lyn, Dennis & Betty and Ian & Meridith. On behalf our our President, The Board and all our Members and Partners we wish all these beautiful couples a very happy and loving Anniversary, well done and many more to come. We also saw young Tess celebrate her Birthday last week, so all the best Tess and here's hoping Peter spent lots of money and gifts and spoilt you on your special day.

Upcoming events May to June 2021

With our " Rotary Year " drawing to a close  (only some six weeks away) there is till a lot on the go with a number of great Guest Speakers and a fair bit of important business to " go over " at our upcoming Club Assembly Meeting, so even though the weather is against us at the moment, if your available please keep your Wednesday evening's free and come along to the upcoming evenings. One important evening , not to be missed is our Annual Club Changeover Dinner, to be held on Wednesday 30th June 2021, at The Mornington Hotel. This should prove to be another great evening and in view of the unfortunate circumstances last year with COVID putting a block on such events, this will be our first face to face changeover in nearly two years. Invitations have already been sent out so please get in early and secure a seat for the evening, please call or better still e-mail to our Social Director ( ASAP) , Eileen at:   eileen.prudden@outlook.com
