Bulletin -  29th Jan 23
From The Editor
Well its been a bit of a wait and with a few technical hiccups and also the very busy time for all Club Members over the past three weeks with "all hands on deck" for our 51st Art Show we finally see our first Club Bulletin for 2023. With the greater bulk of all the physical work from the Art Show now all but finished, but still a fair bit of follow up admin and financial matters still to "sorted out" we can now turn our attention to the upcoming Rotary Year, with the view to focus on Club Projects, Club Meetings, Guest Speaker presentations all mixed together with a few Social gatherings.

The Traditional "Dinner in the Park"
We started our Club's year off back on the 11th Jan 23, with our traditional Dinner the Park at The Long Table. This saw a great turnout of Members and Partners to finally be able to gather, under fair skies (finally!!) at Mornington Park with a brand new roof/shelter to protect most of us from the Sun. It was very pleasing to see the efforts and dilingness of key Club members involved over a lengthy period of some 2 years to finally see this Project thru to completion. We can all now look at our Long Table with its new Roof and provide much need shade to locals and visitors to our beautiful Mornington Park.

Mornington Art Show 2023
The 2023 Mornington Art Show has just concluded and by all accounts and initial reports has been rated as one of the most successful Art Shows, once again exceeding past Shows. It was great to see the Art Show return back to the Main Theatre, at Wilson's Road, which was a bit of relief when it came to logistic matters. But let us cast our mind back some 3 months ago when Richard and his team commenced in earnest the many, many hours of lead in admin taskings. This year we saw two vital and new key appointments in the formulation of the Art Show with Jo Davis and Meridith Horton taking on this huge job, and it was pleasing to see both Barbara and Maree proving a great deal of underpining knowledge and experience helping out along the way. Pre Christmas saw many hours and at times of up to eight hrs a day within the IT and admin tasks of "setting up the Show". Once mid January hit the physical task of once again setting up the hall with all forms of screens and assets began in earnest. Opening night came around pretty fast and with a Main hall full of what could only be described at 1st class work saw some 300 guests to participate in a fantastic event. As shown below here is only a very small snapshot of the dozens of pics taken on the night for your perusal.

Please note; Due to size restrictions on content within Club Runner this Bulletin article on the Art Show provides an overview in both the written report and also the Pics provided. Once all the admin and final financial reconciliation's have been completed our Art Show Chair, Richard, will be able to provide a comprehensive report to all Members which has been scheduled for our Club Meeting on Wednesday 08th Mar 23. There will also be PPT Presentation with a wider range of Photo's, for all to see.

Club Meeting - Wed 01st Feb 23.
Happy New Rotary Year to all Members, Partners and Families. Well now the Art Show is over the new Rotary year kicks off. We resume our normal meetings this Wednesday at The Mornington Hotel "our usual haunt". Our President Elect, Pam, will be our Chair, in President Brian’s absence who is still down with his family at Lake Tyers. Our business for the night is Cameron Guymer who is going to give  us a recap on the Sun Energy Project and ask us if we are ready to make some financial commitment towards it.  Ross Kilborn will give you an outline of the Moondah Project.
We will be joined by Chris and Vivien Reynolds, Rotarians from Queensland, who some of you probably met at the Art Show and have recently moved to Mornington. Please help make them welcome.
Also please note that the hotel has increased the price of two of our menu items so the Garlic Prawns and the Seafood basket will be $27. All other meals remain at $25.

The following week, on Wednesday the 08th Feb 23 will see our Clubs first Board Meeting for the yea, and after that normal meetings resume and President Brian will be back on deck.

9820 District Conference
Friday 24th to Sunday 26th February 2023

As active Rotarians in our clubs, we owe ourselves a weekend away, once a year, to relax and enjoy. The District Conference at Cape Schanck has been put together specifically for YOU. To laugh, celebrate & enjoy Rotary fellowship and fun at its best. Join in for a fabulous weekend at a beautiful venue right here in District 9820.
Please have a look at the promotional video to inspire all Rotarians from District 9820 and surrounding Districts to come on down for a good time and get a bit of sand between our toes.
Five Members from our Club have already booked and it offers an interesting program and is the not too distant. You can do the Saturday only including dinner for $220. Read more about it and see the Saturday program here https://rotary9820.org.au/page/district-9820-conference-2023/
