President's Report's
Last weeks meeting provided me the opportunity to thank the many members who successfully contributed, in my absence over the last month. This included the Social Italian Night, Club Meetings, attending two Cluster Meetings  (Past International  President and the District Governor's) and  the Bunnings BBQ. Thanks again.
This Week - Aug 28 is a Board Meeting
This week is a Board Meeting and the main items for discussion will be based around our Plan for the year, what we want to achieve, and how we are progressing. A report will appear in next week's Bulletin.
Friends of Mornington Rotary Club
As part of our Membership Plan, and consistent with the Rotary International Theme this year "Connecting the World",  we are developing and formalising our "Friends" Group. Our first Bulletin went out to 115 Friends  last week, explaining this and inviting them to get more involved with the club, including attending the Sept 4 Meeting with Garry Crittenden.
Polio Progress
I read last week that it has been three years since a child in Nigeria was paralyzed by the wild poliovirus. This means that the entire World Health Organization (WHO) African region could be certified as wild poliovirus-free as soon as mid-2020. That means that 5 out of the 6 WHO regions in the world will be considered polio-free.
Temporary Newsletter Editor
As you are aware, Brian is about to undergo some serious shoulder surgery and we wish him well for the  next 6 weeks. In that time I will be the temporary Editor, so if there is anything you would like included please let me know.
Finally, Lyn and I look forward to enjoying dinner with the many members attending this Saturday nights social dinner.
Upcoming Guest Speaker
Wednesday September 4 - Guest Speaker Garry Crittenden
This is is first of our monthly Feature Guest Speakers evenings and an opportunity to invite  partners, friends, colleagues, past members and sponsors to enjoy an evening with Rotarians. I encourage you all to bring along at least one guest. Please let Eileen know how many you will be bringing, so we can advise the Mornington Hotel. Full details appear on our website and we have also promoted it on our facebook page.
Prospective Member Information Session
Immediately before the Sept 4 Meeting, at 5.30pm, we will be running a less than 30 minute session about the Mornington Rotary Club. It is designed to provide prospective members with information to attract and engage them. Please come yourself and bring anyone you know who may be interested.
Last Week's Meeting - our website
Thanks to Brian for his presentation last week demonstrating all his good work in updating our website - effectively our shopfront in the on line world. On the front page now visitors can find up to date information about the club.  Members can find details of all upcoming activities either on the LHS or via the calendar. The Members Only section provides a central repository for all club documents. The website is being run in "Clubrunner", Rotary International endorsed software that also enables us to manage our membership, friends, the Bulletins, and events for around $10pw.
