A good "chilly and windy" morning to my fellow Mornington Rotarians, partners and friends. If there was ever any doubt that Winter is upon us, well these last few and upcoming days are surly a testament to this. With all of us going thru another lockdown the thought of being confined in our homes, at the moment doesn't sound too bad. I for one have had the Central Heating, as well as the Wood Fire going along in full swing. With our Footy Tips going along at a somewhat " last minute notice of teams and venues, its good to see our own Fran Chambers leading the way, well done Fran. For those who receive our 9820 District Newsletter via the e-mail system there is a great article in this months edition. Our 9820 Australian Rotary Health, Peninsula Chair, Mardi Shepherd, has included an article about the recent visit by Molly and Liam to our Club. If you get a chance have read of the article and it is of note to open up the links provided to see all the good work and fund raising efforts of ARH. With this latest Lockdown in place we once again have been "thrust" into a number of ZOOM Meetings and as a result some of our upcoming Guest Speakers will be "put on hold" for a few more weeks so we can be part of their presentations face to face. Hopefully by now you have all received an e-mail update on the status of our upcoming Club Changeover Dinner, so please "watch this space" and as soon as I find out what's going on you will be the first to know.
Last Week - Club Meeting & This Weeks Upcoming ZOOM Club Meeting
Last Wednesday evening we all went "back to the future" for a Club Meeting via ZOOM and this was more of a social theme with a small amount of Club Business being presented. It was great to see and hear from Jo-Anne who is currently " up north in sunny QLD " escaping both the cold and the Lockdown, enjoy it Jo-Anne as when you return you will need the winter woollies.
This coming week will see our Club Meeting for tomorrow evening, Wednesday 9th June 2021 being hosted by our International & Foundation Chair, Richard. Richard will provide us with an update on all things International from within our District and what may be coming up over the next few months. From our Board meeting some two weeks ago there were 3 items of International/ Foundation tabled and discussed by the Board. These items will be tabled tommorrow evening for all members to discuss and vote on for promulgation. So please log-on and join the meeting.
Also there appears to be a bit of movement on one of our Clubs Major Projects, so even more reason to grab a wine , a hot cuppa and some comfort food and join the meeting;

This week’s meeting is being conducted by Richard on International and Foundation matters. The Board has received several recommendations from the Committee which it is putting forward for member approval, at this Zoom meeting
- Recommendation of the International and Foundation Committee to invest, this financial year, in
- Polio Plus $5000
- Australian Rotary Foundation $5000
- Donations in Kind - $3500 each of this financial year, and next, towards the rental of their warehouse. (Total $7000) This arose from the recent visit there to deliver the school uniforms and is consistent with what 21 other clubs provide.
- The Board also recommends for Australian Rotary Health contributions to
- Lift the Lid $5000 – 40th Anniversary Appeal
- Indigenous Scholarship for Molly King for the calendar year 2021, $2500, which has already been paid.
Business Network International Last week I attended a BNI Breakfast as a guest of Lee Midson, Mornington Travel, We have been invited to nominate one member for a free years membership of BNI Mornington. A personal connection between the two organisations could be beneficial on a number of fronts. If not you, then who do you know that is involved in a not for profit organisation that might be interested. Their meetings are well structured and focussed on generating new business for the 20 or so members present. In some ways they are modern iteration of one aspect of what Rotary started out to do. They meet over breakfast on Thursday mornings each week. Any ideas – please let me know.
The Coming weeks
Who knows how we will be meeting over the next few weeks. It’s a week by week proposition, so the calendar on the website and the side column of this Bulleting is tentative. Fingers crossed for Changeover night on the 30th !
So see you on Zoom this week.
Regards
Ross
