President's Report's

Our Meeting Venue

I think the feedback I received last night, after very successfully trying  Room 10,  (upstairs) at the Mornington Hotel, suggests it will be our permanent venue.  Note that the 24th and 31st we are elsewhere anyway (see below), so will be back there, in the downstairs Stratton Room  from August 7.

Last  week's Meeting

See a report below on our guest speaker, John Baker, CEO of the MPSC. It was great to have a number of "Friends" join us. Hopefully this is a precedent for the future. Here is some feedback I received from one of our guests this morning " the members and guests were so welcoming and warm"

Mornington Community Safelink
Mornington Community Safelink
Our guest speaker on Wednesday July 3 was Graeme Rocke from the Mornington Community Safelink Group. The MCS will link the old Moorooduc and old Mornington Railway stations with a path adjacent to the railway line. The Safelink has had the support of the responsible authorities and agencies since Peninsula Link was built,  but the path was not funded. The Pen Link trail terminates at Moorooduc Railway Station. The benefit of the Safelink for Mornington is the linking of the several shopping centres, schools, sporting precincts, residential and industrial areas for walkers, joggers and people with mobility aids. It will provide active transport and recreation for all sectors of the community, but especially children and families.  The group is currently compiling letters of support from the community, meeting with local politicians, and preparing a petition. Graeme was accompanied to our meeting by Group member Cheryl Coombs, who leads local womens' cycling groups.
You can keep up to date with their progress on advocating for the completion of the Safelink on facebook.
