Rotary Club of Mornington 2019 AGM & Club Assembly
The Rotary Club of Mornington conducted its Annual 2019 AGM on Wednesday 13th November which was accompanied by a Club Assembly Meeting.

The evening also saw a very special event that all Rotary Clubs hold in high reverence, that being the Induction Ceremony of a new Club Member, Mr Rod Birt.

The AGM was conducted with the normal administrative procedures, previous AGM Minutes presented and passed, no business arising and no General Business being presented.  The nominations for the Clubs Secretary and Treasurer for the 2020-21 Office Term were elected and congratulations to both Ian Horton (Sec) and John Parkinson (Tres) for their appointments. The President Elect & Nominee are still being negotiated and we should see a result in the coming weeks.  All in all a very brief but professionally thorough AGM was conducted.

Ian has already distributed the 2019 AGM Minutes and a copy can be sourced on our clubs Web Page under the Members only log-in area.

Prior to the evening meal being served, our Club President, Ross Kilborn, had the pleasure of formally inducting (this being Ross’s first induction ceremony) our newest member Mr Rod Birt. Rod is currently one of the many professional Relator’s of one of our Clubs supporters and sponsors from Nicholas Lynch Real Estate. Well done Rod and we are very pleased to have you join our Club, congratulations on your induction.

Following the evening meal the focus of the remainder of the evening was spent discussing a wide range of club general business matters and also a number of appointed Chair’s from Youth to Community, providing a brief overview of past and important upcoming events and projects.

One of the very important presentations was that of the Interplast Medical Project that was conducted in the latter part of this year, in Island Nation of Samoa. A full presentation accompanied by a number of striking graphics can be found on our Clubs Web Page. This report is well worth a read, and once again highlight’s the amazing outcomes that Rotary has been able to sponsor in the support in life changing Medical Services.

The Interplast Medical Team " on the ground in Samoa " , well done to all

A special mention goes to our Clubs Social/Entertainment Officer, Mrs Eileen Prudden, for her volunteer work in the provision of The Story Dog literacy program. Eileen along with a number of fellow volunteers all who were accompanied by their loyal four legged friends featured in an article in the November issue of the Mornington Peninsula Magazine (page 39). Well-done Eileen.

With Christmas very fast approaching please annotate in your diary another time honoured social event that being our Annual Christmas Dinner. This year it will held at our clubs regular Meeting establishment, that being the Mornington Hotel on Wednesday 18th December 2019, 6;00 for 6; 30  (only 4 weeks away!!)
The cost will be a very reasonable $40.00 per head, which includes a 2-course meal, nibbles on arrival and starter drinks. For catering purposes it is imperative to give Eileen an RSVP no later than 09 December 2019.

Payment can now be made, direct via EFT, into our Clubs Account: Bendigo Bank – BSB 633-00 , Account No 146806344. Please ensure you provide your Surname within the “ remarks/ comments “ area of the transfer.

Another very important project within our local area is the Mornington Community Christmas Hampers. As has been the case over many years our club has been and continues to be very supportive of this very worthwhile project.
I'm sure we can all find a gift to contribute and help out and share a bit of joy for those in need when Santa comes visiting.

President's Report's
Coming Up this Week

I was very happy to induct Rod Birt last week. Next week is Joe’s turn. Pleasingly we have received a Membership Application from Judy Seager.

It was good to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Arthurs Seat Challenge acknowledging our support for their fundraising for the Fit to Drive Program on the Peninsula. Thanks to Ian Horton for organising this and the crew that faced the cold morning.

The Interplast Report, referenced by Brian, above is really worth your reading. We helped change the lives of 60 people.

The Mornington Christmas Hamper Project has now been launched. Please share this ad with your family and friends by either emailing the link or printing it. Thanks to Nicholas Lynch Real Estate for both the ad design and running it on the back page of the Leader.

On Saturday afternoon I attended a Cluster President Elect’s Meet and Greet at Rosebud. I was very impressed with Rosebud-Rye’s Warehouse. Any interest in visiting it? or even holding a joint meeting there on a Wednesday night next year?

On Sunday morning I went to the District 9820 AGM and Foundation Seminar at Warragul. Both were very useful for learning about what other clubs are up to.  Specifically there is a very good new presentation of the Rotary Youth Programs, and we are being encouraged to seek a District Funding Grant.

Next Sunday morning is a current year Cluster President’s meeting in Mornington.

Regards

Ross
